Story of Adam Inspiration thanks to Jo
Dear Adam,
When I thought I had nothing in my life, you were there. Let me explain.
I’m a mum of two, in my forties, living thousands of miles away from my own family. I share a house with my soon-to-be ex-husband in his home country so that we can raise our two children together. It’s tough and not how I thought my life would be. Though I have friends here, I often felt alone and to be honest, unable to cope. Watching my husband get on with his life and go on as if I meant nothing was often more than I could bear. Needing medication just to be able to function and control the emotional rollercoaster, I struggled through each day trying my best to take care of the kids and keep my head above water.
And then, I saw you. On American Idol, which I was following half heartedly, there you were, singing Ring Of Fire. Simon called it indulgent rubbish, I thought it was the best thing I’d ever seen. Those crystal blue eyes, looking seductively into the camera, that smile and OMG, that voice. I was HOOKED, completely, immediately. It sounds silly, but it was like you were sent to cheer me up, to bring me out of the huge funk I’d let myself get into. I genuinely felt happy for the first time in so long.
As I learned more about you and heard you speak in interviews, I realized that there was more to you than just the eyeliner and the voice. You were smart, honest, open and proud. I loved your graciousness and that you seemed to have a good time wherever you were. You became my star in a very dark sky and as each week passed, the children and I would watch to see what you would do next – and I’d be thrilled by it.
The lonely nights were no more as I spent time online watching your videos and listening to your interviews. I couldn’t believe how good you were – your voice is beyond amazing. I once heard someone say that you are hiding a third lung in there – LOL - I think it must be true.
As the AI journey came to an end and the tour started we got to see more of the wonderful performer that you are. Stunning, sexy, beyond words. Even though I am so far away, your openness makes us (fans) feel connected to you somehow.
Then your album FYE was released and it blew me away. I love every song, but my favourite is AFTERMATH. What an anthem that is! You and that song, let me know that if my little boy grows up and is different from his friends, then it’s still going to be OK. And for myself, it’s OK to be myself. You have to do what your heart tells you is right and seeing you being comfortable in your own skin gave me the strength and courage to be comfortable in mine. And I know that from your influence, I’ll be able to support my son when he gets older in whatever way he needs.Your words in that song even help him with his maths problems!
You’ve opened my eyes Adam Lambert. Seriously, you’ve made me want to listen to music again, you make me want to dance. My dream came true when I travelled to Kuala Lumpur to see you in concert. I went just to be able to see you with my own eyes, to know that you are real. I shopped, glammed, wore glitter and and had the time of my life. You’ve brought an element into my life that I never thought possible because I feel SO GOOD when I hear you sing. My heart soars and I feel happy. And because I’m happier, my kids are happier.
So thankyou Adam Lambert, you’ve made me happier than any real man in my life ever has. I’ll be a fan forever.

I think Adam needs to really know just how inspirational and instrumental he has been in reshaping people's lives as this is a phenomenon beyond belief that one person can be so influential to people all over the world. We all don't love Adam for nothing!! Thanks for sharing this with us, Gloria; your daily column and Adam on a daily basis really make life worth living!!
