Learning from a reality competition vet

Sasha Mallory might not have made it to the finals of "So You Think You Dan Dance" if she hadn't gone out on tour with a famous reality competition runner-up - Adam Lambert of "American Idol."

Mallory performed as a back-up dancer with Lambert, who finished second to Kris Allen on "Idol's" eighth season, just before she auditioned for "Dance."

"When I worked with him, that's when I came into myself," Mallory says. "It was so much fun touring with him. I got to work with someone who's been through this process before."

Having trained in a range of styles, including ballet, jazz, modern and hip hop, Mallory was able to put it all together for the arena performances.

"It was a different style of dance, but it wasn't too hard for a dancer because it's about the singer," she says. "But it was so much fun, and performance-wise, I learned a lot."
