Marta Grzywacz, RMF FM: You’re coming to Poland with a new vocalist, with whom you’re doing 6 shows. Why did you pick Adam Lambert?
Brian May: It’s nice to play with talented musicians and it’s exactly one of those that we have met. Adam is a great guy and undoubtedly very talented. He has an incredible voice. Freddie would have have loved him – both professionally and personally. Moreover, Adam is charming, very relaxed, he’s easy to work with and has an extraordinary instrument – his voice. Music is his passion, he lives and breathes it, just like Freddie did once. Furthermore, he’s a showman, just like Freddie was and has a natural talent when it comes to connecting to the audience, which is an extremely important part of people a rock singer. Because for me, music is not just music. It’s a conversation with an audience and it is of great importance. Oddly enough, the organisation, which on our behalf auditions vocalists for We Will Rock You in Las Vegas, didn’t notice Adam. Adam tried out for the part of Galileo and they turned him down. He didn’t make it through and we didn’t have the chance to get to know him. That is shocking to me – a guy like him enters a room and no one notices him?!
Did someone get punished for that?
Heads should have rolled because of that but that organisation does not exist anymore, because we backed out of Las Vegas.

Wow here's my squeaky wheel moment to DIRECTV.
ReplyDeleteAdam Lambert is my favorite artist. I love his new album Trespassing and the two singles Better than I Know Myself and Never Close Our Eyes.
I listen to many of the stations but I have not heard either of theses songs. What station am I most likely to hear them on? If you are not playing him please let
me know so I can stop waiting to hear him and find an alternative place to listen to the music I like to hear. We switched from comcast to direct tv and
many things are great but I have not been happy with the play loops on the music channels. Pretty boring for the most part. Your twitter presence is non existent.
I have the feeling we have been duped with elevator music.

I could not find a way to request on your website (I only found playlists) and twitter looked abandoned. I never expected a reply.
Thank you so much for returning my email. I work from home and have the TV radio on for hours every day.
I have been switching from Adult Contemporary, Today's Hits and Hottest hits hoping to hear one of his songs.
I certainly didn't expect him on Dance (which I listen to sometimes on the weekend when house cleaning).
There are several other stations I listen to a lot (Subterranean, Latin Jazz, Coffeehouse and Silver Screen). It depends on
what project I'm working on and what kind of motivation I need in the background.
I have Sirius in my car and was thinking of getting it on my computer (NCOE is playing on 20 on 20) but I'll stick with DirectTv and
look forward to hearing Adam there now that I know what stations to listen to. Yes, I would like to hear Never Close Our Eyes.
For awhile some of Adams videos were playing on channel 1339 but not lately. I just turned Ch 859 on and hope I hear the Never - remix.
I didn't even know there was one. Again,I never expected a personal reply.
