Letter to Michele Bachmann from @blakkrrox

A long, open letter to Michele Bachmann : - Your arguments regarding the gay community always come to an abrupt halt as your reasoning is quickly exhausted when challenged with fact. 

Men & women have always had diverse sexuality, prior to, and since The Bible, and that will continue forever. It is the way the creator intended; in your case, your God, and for many others, The Universe. I am yet to understand why people anywhere around the world prefer to hate those who were born to be same-sex couples, rather than embrace mankind with the love we are all capable of. Your comments will not endear anyone to you, your party, or your faith. It has, and will continue to, offend people from all corners of the globe. Your stereotypical approach is just another bias which you happily perpetuate. The argument of sodomy is moot. Men & women practice this now, more than ever, and it's something that has been popular for thousands of years, regardless. It is not an exclusively gay activity; nor do all gay couples subscribe to it. Nobody is forcing you or others to participate. Pleasure from sexual anatomy is something everyone is born with, and it continues throughout adulthood, irrespective of orientation or age. It's all intentional, as a special, unique way to share closeness with another person. If it were only about procreation, it would have been gifted only to fertile heteros. Normality comes in all shapes and sizes, and none of us are qualified to determine the parameters. Sexuality is only one aspect of someone's lifestyle, albeit a personal one. How people treat others is what is actually relevant to others in the community. I'm sure you don't discuss your own sexuality with your neighbors or strangers, so why judge something that is none of your business? If people were free to be completely transparent, you would find almost everyone on this planet has explored sexuality, sans marriage vows to various degrees via their thoughts, actions, media, or other means. People you admire and interact with daily may live their lives gay and covertly, rather than be ostracized by the ignorant whose voices speak louder than their own intelligence. Bullying changes nothing, except masking the true figures of non-heteros within our societies. The gay community exude a high proportion of creativity, whether as designers, musicians, architects, artists or a myriad of other occupations. If they were completely taken away from your own world, you would find less style and beauty that they gift so abundantly. You won't find a stereotype that completely fits any orientation, which is just perfect. I taught my children at age 8, the fundamental differences between hetero, gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, transsexual and intersexual, initially using the terms kissing and love. They were taught that normal includes the full range of people of any race, color, look, intellectual capacity, mobility, and religion. They are thriving, and interact without any hesitation with people of all ages and types. If it turns out that they are born of non-hetero orientation, they are equipped to know they can speak and live freely, without guilt or fear, and be proud of every aspect of their lives. To be bigoted towards an entire demographic, their friends and family means a person is not fit to be a politician, as all orientations form part of every constituency. Whether you like it or not, same sex couples are here to stay. They often make much better parents than heteros do. Parenting involves love, guidance, compassion, integration and personal growth; not hatred, intolerance, bigotry, segregation and regression. To deny future generations the ability to love unconditionally, is a travesty of the worst possible kind. Hetero couples will continue to have beautiful hetero and gay children naturally. Many gay couples prefer to not have children via alternative means, but those who do chose to should have the same rights as hetero couples. To deny their same-sex parents this freedom, is to deny any innocent child every available opportunity in life. Governments continue to unfairly demand full taxes from those they do not give full rights to. Whilst same-sex marriages are a big leap forward, they do not bring equal rights with regard to health, legal & social issues. I have no doubt you will continue to ignore facts concerning the push for Human Rights for all. Everybody has the right to walk without vilification; to choose their own person to love, and marry with equality and harmony. I send positive thoughts in the hope you will one day find beauty in all of creation. I take solace in the fact that everyone was put here for a purpose. You, I believe, were placed here so we could see with full clarity how we should behave, embrace our fellow man and perpetuate love. For this, I am eternally grateful, and I will continue my pledge to never, ever be silent.
