In November of 2008, just a mere two months before Adam Mitchell Lambert graced the world with his presence on American idol, I endured the worst day of my life. My dear husband of only 9 and a half years died suddenly of a massive fatal heart attack in our home. He was just 46 years old and a devoted father and husband. During this time my own father was battling cancer and going downhill.

Needless to say my spirit was not high but I pressed on because of my son who needed me. He was 6 at the time and has a mild form of autism. I had to keep it together during the day for him so I saved all my grieving for after he went to bed. I had many a dark night for those first several weeks.

Then in January I started watching American idol which I hadn't done for a couple of years but I needed a diversion from my grief so I felt it would help if I watched something entertaining. Little did I know what I was in for. Adam caught my interest from the auditions and I never missed an episode because I couldn't wait to see what he would do next.

Towards the end of January just over two months after I lost my husband, my dad succumbed to cancer. The main reason I watched AI was primarily because of Adam. I forgot about what I was going through for Tuesday and Wednesday night just for a little while and it helped me get through what were very difficult days.

Adam allowed me to be excited about something in my life instead of being sad all the time. When I joined Adam Official it also allowed me to think about something else and was a form of therapy for me and it is still an important part of my day.

It seems strange that a young man I have never met or seen live means so much to me but he holds a special place in my heart and I will never forget what he did to get me through to see the light at the end of my grief process. I am fan for life and it is my goal to see him at least once live hopefully more if it is in the plan for me.
