Adam Inspires Story thanks to @sarahjaxx7

When it comes to how Adam inspires me, or what I love about him, I don't know where to begin. So, I guess I'll begin with when I saw him in concert, at the GlamNation Tour, for the very first time. To begin with, I never really expected to see him in concert. I mean, I wanted to, but I figured it wouldn't be possible in some way. I'd be too busy with the fall semester, or he wasn't going to be anywhere near where I live (as reference, I live in Jacksonville, FL), or it would be too expensive, or something else. And I know my mom wanted to see him in concert also, since she's an Adam fan herself. Plus, I already sort of had summer plans, which I was planning to spend most of the money I had saved up on. I was planning on going to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter with my best friend at the time. But, those plans fell through, and I was pretty bummed. I was pretty much thinking, "Great, so now I have nothing to look forward to this summer, except for a couple classes." I expressed my disappointment to my mom, and then didn't really think about it anymore, being pretty much resigned to my fate, and not expecting a fantastic summer.

Two weeks after finding out that my plans fell through, my mom randomly woke me up one morning, and told me to come into the living room, because she had something to tell me. I had no idea what could be that important. Had something bad happened?

A multitude of bad scenarios passed through my mind as I walked down our hallway, and into our living room, where I sat down next to my mom on our sofa, bracing myself for some kind of bad news (yes, that sounds pessimistic, but I guess thats just how my brain works).

"Guess what?"  my mom said. "Ummm...what?" I said, still not sure what my mom was going to tell me. "Well, you know how your summer plans fell through? I knew you were pretty upset about it, and I got an idea in my head, and I thought, 'Hmm, wouldn't it be great to go see Adam in concert?'"
"WHAT?! Oh my god, mom, are you telling me that we're going to see him in concert?!"
My mom smiled. "Yes. The minute they went on sale this morning, I got on the phone and bought the both of us tickets to his show." At this point, I was absolutely thrilled. My mom had another surprise for me. "Guess where we're going to see him."
"Um, somewhere in Florida? I know he's doing a show in Hollywood, or some city really close to Miami..."

"No, we're going to go see him in Upper Darby." Words can't describe how I felt. Not only were we going to see Adam in concert, but we were going to travel to Upper Darby!
This had huge significance to me. My mom was from Upper Darby, so I knew that she'd get to visit home, after living in Florida for 30 years. I loved pretty much everything about Pennsylvania. The last time I had been there was on a school trip, when I was 14. Being 21, at the time, I was excited to see Pennsylvania again. Not only that, but we were flying there, and it would be my first plane ride ever. We'd leave Jacksonville on a Tuesday, and come home that Sunday.
I'll never forget when August rolled around. The minute we got to Jacksonville International Airport, I was excited. The whole flight there, I was excited. And when we touched down at Philadelphia International Airport, I was extremely excited. But, it still hadn't hit me yet that I was going to be seeing Adam in Upper Darby in a couple days.

In fact, it didn't even hit me, until the moment I saw him come on stage. My mom and I had spent that particular day that he was playing at the Tower Theater, getting ready, and "glamming it up". My mom's best friend, Margie, who lived close to the Tower Theater, drove us there, and dropped us off across the street. In my brain is etched the image of the marquee reading "ADAM LAMBERT" with the words "Sold Out" underneath. I was amazed at the line of people outside the Tower Theater, and how dressed up everything was. And the whole time I stood in line with my mom, she pointed out different buildings and shops that she used to go to when she was a teenager, and how she came to the Tower Theater a lot.
Before we knew it, they started letting people in. I made a bee-line to the merchandise table, and bought two Adam Lambert t-shirts (just one wasn't good enough, I had to have two!), and then my mom and I made our was up stairs and into our seats.

We weren't super close to the stage but we still had a good view. And I was amazed at how different the audience was. There were little old ladies, children, parents with their kids, married couples without kids, teenagers, young, old, etc. etc. I think thats one of the fantastic things about his shows. His audience is always so diverse! When Adam finally came on stage, I was excited, thrilled, and still sort of in disbelief that I was here, and I was seeing him onstage! And I had my mom right next to me, and she was having a blast, too! In that moment, all we were focused on was Adam and the show. I wasn't thinking about the stresses of college, or the problems I was having with my best friend, or anything like that. I was just focused on having a good time.

To make a long story short, if it wasn't for Adam and his GlamNation tour, I wouldn't have taken my first plane ride. My mom wouldn't have been able to visit her home after 30 years. She wouldn't have gotten to see her best friend Margie (who I had never met, and now she's like an Aunt to me), and her best friend Anita (who I hadn't seen since I was 8 years old). I wouldn't have travelled around Pennsylvania with my parents, to places like Lancaster, Valley Forge (where my mom lived), and I wouldn't have seen my mom's old school. Even when we left that Sunday, I was still happy. Because of Adam, I got to do something at 21, that I didn't think I'd be able to do for quite a few years, which was visit Pennsylvania again. And even though Upper Darby is no where near Jacksonville, FL, and we could have easily have waited and gone to see him in Melbourne, or Hollywood, or St. Petersburg, we went on a once in a life time trip (or, at least, thats what it felt like to me, once in a life time), and not only was I happy, but my mom was happy too.

And that turned out to be one of the best memories I have. But, really, Adam inspired me before that. He inspires everything, from my art, to the poems I write, to the jewelry I make, and so many other areas of my life. And, Adam and I are so similar, its ridiculous (just ask my mom!). In fact, I didn't think it was possible for someone that I've never actually met to be so much like me (or, for me to be so much like him), but its true. It sounds completely insane (and it probably is) but I think that maybe, just maybe, Adam and I were twins in a past life.

I could go into a whole other story about my mom noticing how similar we were, from how we dress, to our personalities, but that would take forever! Essentially, if it wasn't for Adam, my summer would have SUCKED. But it didn't, because of Adam and because of his GlamNation tour. :)

Adam Lambert 101: An introduction

Alice said: Gloria, thanks for creating this Sauli site. Adam’s heart eyes with Sauli tell the whole story. I love them together. They seem so right for each other, far beyond the fascinating fashion coincidences. Adam said this time he’s looking for someone who could take care of him this time, with so much going on in his life. Enter Sauli. Delightfully calm and unphased by all the madness that surrounds Adam, he seems to offer Adam peace, trust, support, and a refreshing love that comes from a good, unneedy place. Aside from an obvious attraction, they are good together because both are artists with strong support from family and friends, wry sense of humor, gift of gab, sunshiny personality, love of dance, compassion, kindness, humility, et al. Sauli and Adam are kindred spirits. Thank you Universe for bringing them together. I hope they always want each other as much as they do now. Adam, we know why your heart is full and we are overjoyed by your bliss.
